ABOUT THE ARTIST
Elli Tennant is a Houston-based artist whose work bridges the gap between reality and expressive interpretation. With a lifelong passion for color and form, she creates dynamic pieces that capture the essence of a moment in time.
The artists' formal training began at Texas Tech University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts, focusing on painting and ceramics. Seeking a deeper connection to classical techniques, Elli spent time in Florence, Italy studying at SACI School of Art and Design. During her time abroad, she was able to master the disciplines of painting, sculpture and art restoration, all of which continue to inform her technical approach and appreciation for historical content.

Focusing on the human figure and fleeting “moments in time,” Elli draws inspiration from her own personal experiences as well as nostalgic vintage photographs she finds. Her process is one of transformation using expressive brushwork and intentional color palettes, striving to find a balance between reality and abstraction. Through her unique lens, viewers are invited to experience a story or feeling that can feel familiar, but at the same time, entirely new.

Elli lives in Houston, Texas with her husband, two kids and two big dogs.
